Early giving is open, donate now!

This year, we'll provide 1250 children in Washington elementary schools with free, after-school soccer and nutrition education through Soccer for Success.

Soccer for Success is our free program that uses soccer as a tool to teach children about nutrition and promote healthy lifestyles for children in low-income communities. The Soccer for Success program, created by the U.S. Soccer Foundation, provides each school with three 90 minute after-school sessions for two 12-week seasons (fall/spring). Coach-Mentors are trained in mentorship and teaching nutrition to players using soccer activities. Each season ends with a family night that brings the school community together to celebrate; players earn a jersey and a soccer ball through their hard work over the year.

68% of all children in the program improved or maintained their BMI Percentile score and 74% improved or maintained their aerobic capacity. 89% report feeling better about themselves and trying harder in school. 86% report trying harder to stay away from violence and fighting.

Using soccer - a uniquely culturally relevant tool in many communities - to encourage healthy choices in under-served communities is a simple but effective strategy for narrowing health disparities. Offering the program immediately after-school at elementary schools eliminates transportation barriers and reduces childcare costs, directly bridging economic equity gaps in current physical activities opportunities.

With your support, a child will learn to build a healthy life using nutrition and exercise. You can can change a child's life by sponsoring a roster spot in Soccer for Success.

Our kids are so excited to know that Nicolás Lodeiro from Seattle Sounders FC has chosen us as his GiveBIG 2019 organization to support!

Thank you to Seattle Sounders FC, RAVE Foundation, U.S. Soccer Foundation, King County Parks, and our donors for their support.
